Stunning Sapphire: September’s birthstone
Sapphire is the stunning birthstone for September. Did you know it came in pink?
Sapphire is a truly remarkable stone. It is part of the Corundum family (which also includes ruby) and can be found in a true rainbow of colours as the photo below shows, not just the blue that many people are familiar with.
Sapphires are an excellent choice of stone for everyday jewellery because they are very resilient, though not unbreakable. If they start to look a little dull over time, sapphires can also be polished to bring them back to their original glory.
Sapphires look beautiful when accented with diamonds. We have made many beautiful pieces of jewellery using sapphire:
Australian sapphires, pressure set into white gold with diamonds.
Stunning pink sapphires pressure set in yellow gold with diamonds.
A pale pink/lilac oval sapphire is the main feature of this classic PIKE white gold split ring with diamonds through the centre band.
A dark Australian sapphire (the top stone) looks beautiful with other coloured stones in yellow gold.
An unusual and gorgeous purple cushion-cut sapphire – a beautiful way to personalise a halo-style engagement ring.
This vivid pink sapphire is the
beautiful main stone of a modern version of the classic cluster.
Stunning Ceylon-type sapphire in a classic three stone claw-set engagement ring.
This yellow shield-shaped stone is just one of the beautiful yellow sapphires we’ve worked with.
Another stunning pink sapphire, this time cut as a radiant cut and set within an art deco style ring…
with a beautiful undercarriage that adds another dimension to this interesting piece.
We have also made some striking pendants using these gorgeous stones:
Yellow, pink/mauve and pale blue sapphires in white gold pendant.
If you have a sapphire that is looking a little dull, pop in to our intimate studio workshop and we can check to see if it needs re-polishing.
We can also help you design and re-make sapphires into new pieces of exciting jewellery.
