Pink and white diamond ring

The commission began with Pike Jewellers being recommended to our clients through a friend and diamond setter Stephen Webb.

I first met with the husband and what was a lovely coincidence was that I had made jewellery for his wife’s mother and sister.

I found the first appointment was relaxed, enjoyable and I felt an instant connection to the brief which was the re-making of an existing three stone diamond ring into a new engagement ring with the addition of some pink diamonds and the remaking of a matching wedding ring.

The original engagement ring incorporated a single round brilliant cut white diamond with two white marquis cut diamonds, one either side, all set in yellow gold. This ring held a lot of special memories and the new ring was to retain this emotion but present the diamonds in a new way.

The idea of adding Australian pink diamonds was not just because of their rarity and beauty but they were to represent a trip the couple had taken to the red heart of Australia where they were captivated by the amazing pink and red colours of the sunsets. These colours held a special significance and they wanted to remember them when looking at the new ring.

My clients loved my designs and chose a circular cluster with the main original diamonds in a similar layout to the original ring, but with pink diamonds at certain places. I named the design a ‘romantic compass’. The original white diamond was placed in the centre with white and pink diamonds alternating at North, South, East and West locations and then circled by pink diamonds. 

Two extra round diamonds which were also significant and had been worn as diamond stud earrings were also incorporated underneath the top of the ring and gives an element of surprise from side view. 

White and yellow gold has been used to enhance the gem colours and the yellow gold band of the engagement ring matches the beautiful rounded yellow gold wedding ring which we also remade.

We all enjoyed the final reveal and we feel extremely honoured to be given the opportunity and trust to deliver such a meaningful set of rings which our clients will enjoy for the rest of their lives.

Also meaningful to me and our clients was the way in which Matthew was able to translate my drawings into the stunning rings they became. He achieved great proportions, balance and layout and the precise setting work completed by Stephen made this an emotional journey for all of us.
