Nicholas on the art of re-creation
Well, it’s only 9 weeks to Christmas which makes me feel like the year has been on ‘fast forward’ for the Pike Family! So much has happened. We have been in our new studio at Highgate Village for over four months and the customers who have found us love our new home. It’s a great space with an informal family atmosphere and customers are fascinated to see jewellery handcrafted before their eyes.
During the transition from Burnside Village to Highgate we have received many personal messages congratulating us on the move and an overwhelming relief that we are still available to help people with their jewellery needs.
At the same time as we are re-creating ourselves, we have had the opportunity to re-create some very beautiful pieces including a magnificent white gold bangle, containing over 170 diamonds taken from a diamond brooch owned by the customer’s mother. The finished bangle is a perfect example of remodelling past pieces which has always inspired me – I love the ‘before and after’ concept. We record the journey with a photo story of the design and making process: the original piece of jewellery, the hand drawn designs, loose gems and all manufacturing stages to completion. All for you to keep and share.

Equally as striking, I had the pleasure of designing a bracelet cuff as a 40th birthday gift for a customer’s wife, featuring the 5 birthstones of all 5 members of her family – a really unique and memorable piece.
The new Christmas Collection for 2014 is worth a look, so please go to our website to see the full collection. We’re available for a chat.
