Citrine, diamond, onyx and spinel ring.

There are some customers who come to PIKE with a very clear inspiration for the jewellery they would like us to make them. In the case of this beautiful ring, it was the stunning wall of a home.

After showing Nicholas the wall and having a relaxed conversation discussing all of the elements they wanted included, the customers left Nicholas to get to work on designing some choices for them:

While Nicholas tried to create four very different designs, the inspiration wall was central in his thoughts as he worked.

The customers chose the simplicity of design B, and the gemstone elements of black onyx, grey spinel, diamonds and citrines were chosen to create highlights within the design. Matthew then began the manufacturing process.

After making the very wide ring, it was time to carefully mark out where the lines and gemstones would be placed. A design like this relies on careful planning and meticulous precision in every step, and each element of translating the design to reality involves a very steady hand and fastidious attention to detail.

Once these elements were complete, the gemstones were carefully set, the ring was polished:

and then it was time to carefully glue in the onyx:

And here is the beautiful finished ring!

One of the most exciting things about this ring is that it looks different with every twist and turn – there are so many beautiful elements that tie this design together, and best of all our customer loves the ring so much.
